Get To Know Us

Who We Serve

We serve people of every age. TCA provides health care services for all people. Our highly trained providers take care of babies in the womb, moms who are pregnant, and seniors who have reached their golden years.

We are convenient. TCA’s original clinic in Riverdale serves as a medical home for residents of Chicago’s far south side communities and surrounding suburbs. Our community health center in Chatham is convenient for residents of Chatham, Greater Grand Crossing, Auburn Gresham, Avalon Park, Burnside, Hegewisch, Washington Park, Woodlawn and Pullman.

We are affordable. TCA accepts Medicaid, has contracts with more than 10 health plans, and offers a sliding payment scale for anyone who does not have insurance coverage. If you are not insured, our Outreach and Enrollment staff will work with you to find a suitable plan.

We make our patients comfortable. TCA provides culturally and linguistically appropriate health care services. We develop a workforce prepared to understand and respond to the needs of our communities through training, experience and patient-centered care.

We include everyone. Ours is an inclusive culture, and all persons receive services regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or disability.

Our History

TCA Health was established in 1970 as a privately owned clinic located in the Altgeld Gardens/Murray Homes public housing development on the southside of Chicago. In 1991, TCA transitioned into a non-profit, primary health care center and became Community Health Center and Public Housing Primary Care grantee. TCA’s main clinic and administrative offices are adjacent to Altgeld Gardens/Murray Homes. This organizational change made our services more accessible and available to all residents in metropolitan Chicago’s far south side communities.

Today, TCA offers comprehensive care to anyone who comes through our doors. WE have a team of health experts ready to serve you, including highly trained professionals in family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, oral health and dentistry, behavioral health, clinical social work services, case management, nutritional counseling, health education, and community outreach.

Since our founding, TCA’s commitment to serving the needs of community residents has led us in new directions and expansion. Our most recent acquisition came in December 2015, when TCA Health opened its second community health center in Chicago’s Chatham community. This was a welcome addition to our school-based health center at Carver Military Academy, our Mobile Student Health Clinic, and our three Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) sites (one in Riverdale, one in Auburn Gresham, and one in South Shore).

TCA Health is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We are a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).
